The mission of the Scarsdale Teen Center is to provide a safe, drug and alcohol free space for the teens of Scarsdale and Edgemont.  The Center provides recreational and educational activities as well as leadership opportunities for the youth of Scarsdale and Edgemont.

The Scarsdale Teen Center is seeking a Director with vision, leadership, strategy, and management experience.  The Director will increase the Scarsdale Teen Center’s contribution to the community and will be instrumental in the transition to the next phase of organizational growth and development.

The organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader who will:
-    Provide leadership to staff, ensuring program quality is held to the highest standard
-    Work with the Board of Directors to develop key relationships with external stakeholders including foundation and corporate funders, donors, local business leaders, and community funding boards
-    Expand awareness and visibility of the Teen Center’s mission and programs and increase the participation of the youth in the excellent programming


Purpose:
This position is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Scarsdale Teen Center including the overall planning, coordination, and monitoring of the Center.


Scope:
This is a full-time, hands on position that reports to The Scarsdale Teen Center Adult Executive Board and General Adult Board.  This position is responsible for developing and operating within the budgetary guidelines established in conjunction with the Adult Board.  The position will be responsible for reporting to all funding sources as required by the Adult Board.  Prior fundraising and grant writing experience preferred.

Adult Board and Community Relations:
•    Report directly and regularly to the Presidents of the Adult Board
•    Promote and participate in Teen Center fundraising activities and events
•    In partnership with the Program Director and Adult Board, act as a representative, spokesperson and advocate for the Teen Center to School administrators and teachers, parents and parent organizations, Village and School Board members, and leaders of other community organizations.

Teen Board Responsibilities:
•    Support the Program Director in working with the Teen Board to develop, plan and implement events, activities and fundraisers to be held at the Teen Center
•    Play a positive and influential role in guiding the Teen Board members

 Fundraising
•    Develops and implements a fund raising plan.
•    Assists the Adult Board in the planning and execution of fund raising activities and events

Communication and Publicity:
•    Develop and implement a communications strategy/plan
•    Develop and maintain relationships with local media and newspapers
•    Maintain direct communication with funding sources

Administrative Responsibilities:
•    Prepare annual budget and be responsible for financial transactions in conjunction with the treasurer
•    In conjunction with the Adult Board and Program Director, develop priorities, goals and objectives to meet community needs
•    Establishes and implements internal organization and management systems to effectively meet operating goals and objectives
•    Oversee the daily upkeep of the Teen Center facility to assure its safety, cleanliness and functionality; includes oversight of cleaning service
•    Responsible for payroll and maintenance of employee files, insurance, grant management, donor relations, and other administrative functions as directed by the Adult Board.
•    Responsible for grant research and research of other available funding sources which support the initiatives of the Teen Center
•    Approve and coordinate the use of the facility
•    Responsible for hiring and supervising all Teen Center employees, volunteers and participants in Teen Center programs, activities, and events

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Competencies:
•    Experience with grant writing preferred
•    Excellent communication and public speaking skills
•    Effective leadership and group facilitation skills
•    Effective written communication skills
•    Ability to supervise, review, and evaluate the work of others
•    Ability to establish and implement effective administrative and management programs
•    Proficient with MS Office Suite and Mac computer system
